You Aren’t Supposed to Know How It Will Happen

But you can trust that it will.

Life is a series of beginnings and endings. Something is always begging to come to life–a new relationship, a fresh start, a renewed sense of purpose. But as you are experiencing the birth pains in one area of life, another part of you is dying. You can spend a lot of time caught between the old and the new because you fear both birth and death.

The change in front of you wouldn’t be so hard if you could see the end from the beginning. It’s unlikely you’d plan a trip without knowing at least some of the stops you plan to make along the way. Many people plan out each day from start to finish to ensure they make the most of their trip. But life rarely — if ever — gives you the opportunity or the foresight to know everything that’s coming.

You have a dream, a vision, or a goal. It takes a great deal of courage, and more than a little guts to go out on a limb and expose yourself to the world.

You can find yourself in a world of pain, disappointment, and disillusionment, and knowing that makes it scary. Better to play it safe with what you know, than embrace the uncertainties of a future you can’t predict.

So you stay in a relationship that’s bad for you, in a job you hate, or in a financial situation that shouldn’t…
