The Secret Behaviors That Keep Sabotaging You
How to recognize and beat them
You’re your own worst enemy.
That’s a ridiculously hard idea to swallow. But like all bitter medicine, it’s best to just turn up and drink.
Deep down, you already know that you’re the one getting in your own way. It feels good to blame other people for your circumstances, but if there’s a villain in your story, it’s you. Once you accept it, you can do something about it.
How do we sabotage ourselves? I’m no psychologist, but here are a few ways I’ve seen it play out in myself and others. Any of them can throw you off track. Taken together, they can ruin your life.
Uncertainty About What You Really Want
According to legend, the temple of Apollo in Greece bore an inscription that read: “Know thyself.”
There are so many “influencers” out there telling you what you should want and who you should be, knowing yourself is more difficult than ever.
With so many opinions shouting at us, it’s no wonder we struggle to find meaning and purpose in life. If we don’t know what we want, we end up dabbling in a little of this and that. We never commit to something and we wonder why things never work out.
