Most People Will Never Achieve Their Dreams
And it’s for an avoidable reason
Most failures share one trait in common.
When I started a non-profit in 2015, the trait became glaringly obvious in my life. I was preoccupied with what other people thought.
Starting an non-profit organization takes a lot of dreaming, planning, raising startup funds, and talking to everyone you meet about why they should support your dream.
For all of the hours I spent engaging in the above activities, I let myself drift into the fear that people didn’t believe in me or want to be part of what I was doing. So I held back, I didn’t take risks, and I just puttered along hoping more people would see the value of my dream and make it a success.
The result was that the venture collapsed, and I lost my job.
I failed because I cared too much about what other people thought to do what was necessary to be successful.
This is Where You’re Headed
People who don’t achieve their dreams get caught in a web of fears and possibilities that haven’t happened yet. You develop a low-grade paranoia that everyone else is watching and thinking about you.
