How to React to People’s Post-Pandemic Face
What big teeth you have!
“I can’t believe her nose is that big,” said my co-worker as her last client wakes out of the building.
“Well we haven’t ever seen her face before,” I said, “she started coming in during the pandemic so she’s always had on a mask.”
“Yeah, I guess. But I can’t get over the size of that thing!”
In my state, mask requirements are relaxing. And at my job, clients are no longer required to wear them. After a year of wearing a mask every day I’ve realized I forgot what people look like. Seeing a co-worker with their mask down makes me feel like I caught them with their pants down.
I have a feeling we’re all in for a shock when we start seeing people’s faces below the bridge of their cheekbones again.
Here are a few helpful tips so you don’t embarrass yourself when the masks come off.
The most important thing to avoid
Whatever you do, don’t stare when you meet someone who isn’t wearing a mask. As Abraham Lincoln once said:
“Don’t gawk at my face, I can’t do anything to change it.”
