This post isn’t for everyone.

If you enjoy complaining about how unfair your life is, or hope a new job or the government will save you, this will probably just make you mad.

But if you believe you can have some agency in life — read on!

If you aren’t the hero of your own life, you’ll spend your life perusing someone else’s goals and wondering why you’re so unhappy.

I know, being the “hero” of your story sounds self-important and grandiose.

But being the hero of your own story isn’t about performing great deeds like defeating the Dark Lord or crushing the Empire.

It’s about taking an active role in your transformation.

It’s moving from where you are to the person you want to be.

A hero is someone who embraces a new identity to become more than they are. They go through trials and emerge transformed on the other side. Heroes represent the very nature of living a meaningful life.

Here’s how to be the hero of your own story.
