Do you ever wonder why your life is the way it is?

Have you ever asked yourself, “How did I get here?”

Do you want your tomorrow to be better than today?

In 1965, Vice Admiral James Stockdale’s plane was shot down over North Vietnam. He was taken as a prisoner of war. As a senior naval officer, he was tortured many times and spent years in solitary confinement. He had very little choice in his circumstances. But under conditions where many died or went mad, he survived. How did he do it?

“I never lost faith in the end of the story, I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade.”

When I read that quote the first time, it made all my stupid little problems shrivel up and die. Not only can Stockdale’s insight give you perspective, but they can also give you one of the great keys to life.

You get to decide your story. That means you have the power to decide the outcome of your life.

The part you don’t want to hear
