Be Careful How You Fill the Spaces in Your Life

A few areas that may need your attention.

There is something magical about watching an artist take a blank space and create something new out of it.

When I was a kid I loved watching The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross so much I’d wake myself up from my nap to watch. I was spellbound by his “happy little trees” and “friendly little bushes. I’d even pull out my watercolor paints to paint my own masterpiece. Creating on a blank page has been one of my passions ever since I can remember. And beyond filling a page or canvas, filling spaces in our lives is one of the most important things we do. Why do I say that?

We create our lives by filling the spaces in and around us. You can fill the space in your heart with someone you love and the space on your walls with things that represent you. Your social media is a blank space until you fill it with your thoughts and photographs. You fill the space of your time with work and activities. And there’s an important truth you cannot escape.

How you choose to fill your spaces matters. But there’s a problem.

We often pay little attention to the spaces in our life. We spend most of our days unconsciously filling them with whatever everyone else tells us we should. We consume content that fills us with…
