Avoid them at your own cost
You’re going to die full of regret.
If you follow society’s prescribed path, it’s all but inevitable. Why? Because most people spend their lives achieving other people’s goals. It’s not that you don’t have dreams, but you stifle them in the name of being practical.
Pretty soon a decades pass and you’re still at that job you hate. You’ve become one of what Jean-Paul Sartre called, “Smooth and smiling faces… but ruin in their eyes.”
Of course, it doesn’t have to be that way. If you you start today, you can avoid this fate entirely no matter how old you are. But you’ve got to be willing to make some to ugh decisions.
